The 7th annual CREST day was held in the Steinman Hall Lobby on April 17, 2008. About 200 High School students attended the half-a-day event. The event kicked-off with an opening remark by Dean Joseph Barba, Grove School of Engineering, followed by keynote addresses on “NOAA, Remote Sensing and you” by Charles Baker, Deputy Assistant Administrator, Satellite and Information Services; “The future of Satellites and their applications” by Dr. Alfred Powell, Director, STAR/ NESDIS/NOAA; and “EO-IR Earth Surveillance Systems 2008 Status” by Anthony DiNardo, Chief Scientist, SBIRS, Northrop Grumman. The program concluded with
CREST Students poster session and lunch.

 

 

 

Sixth Annual CREST Day was celebrated at City College on March 29, 2007. About 250 students from High Schools of NY metro; Community Colleges and other campus of CUNY attended the Annual Day. Mr. Robert Mallett, Senior VP of Pfeizer, Inc and Mr. John Jones of NWS, presented the keynote address. Other NOAA dignitaries who attended the event, were - Dr. Al Powell, NESDIS; Ms. Jacqueline Rosseou and Dr. Priti Brahma from NOAA/EPP.

CREST Students made poster presentations and some of them also spoke about their experiences and expectations from CREST and NOAA. The Regional Ocean Science Bowl students of Bronx High School of Sciences, were felicitated on this occasion. This recruitment event begun to bear fruits with manystudents already submitted their applications to join CREST Program. Four of which applied for CREST High School Summer
Internship (CREST-SHIP).

Fifth Annual CREST Day was celebrated at City College on May 4, 2006.
175 students from High Schools of NY metro; Community Colleges and other
campus of CUNY attended the Annual Day.
A presentation on Science and Technology by Dr. Al Powell, Director,
STAR/NESDIS/NOAA and Educational Priorities by Louisa Koch, Director, Office
of Education, NOAA, were amongst the highlights of the event.
