CREST- Summer High School Internship Program (SHIP)

One of the main and most important objectives of the CREST program is to recruit, retain and train the students (Undergraduate, Master, and PhD) from STEM background in NOAA related sciences. CREST therefore is constantly working on gearing up new and feasible recruitment strategies to be able to achieve this challenging task and objective. Since CREST admits students into it program as early as Junior and senior level, it is very important that the recruitment efforts begin as early as HS level. In order to develop a better pipeline from HS to undergraduate levels, it was decided in 2006 to create a summer internship program exclusively for the HS students. We began with 2 students in 2006 and it went up to 16 in 2008 (12 of which were leveraged through other program ongoing at CCNY).
